Cash stolen from business: An employee of a Midway Plaza business told police Dec. 25 that sometime between 8 a.m. and 7:30 p.m., someone pried open the door at the rear of the building, removing $2,658 in cash and damaging a door and two drawers. Damage was estimated at $240.
Tools missing from rental home: A Uniontown man told police Dec. 20 that tools stored in a Northwest Avenue home he owns and rents have been turning up missing. According to the report, missing are a $300 backpack leaf blower, a $300 ladder, a $250 drill, a $360 electric meter and miscellaneous hand tools valued at $400. The detective bureau is following up.
Tallmadge man caught taking cosmetics, jewelry: Police issued a summons for theft to a 19-year-old Tallmadge man Dec. 24 after the loss prevention officer at a South Avenue business told police she saw the man take a bag of miscellaneous cosmetics and jewelry valued at $122 and a $60 remote starter and leave the store without rendering payment. He was advised not to return to the store.
Ring discovered missing from apartment: A South Avenue woman told police Dec. 23 that sometime between Dec. 8 and 19, someone removed a $1,400 white gold and sapphire ring from her apartment.
Akron women caught taking merchandise: Police issued a summons for theft to a 41-year-old Akron woman Dec. 26 after the loss prevention officer at a South Avenue business told police they had detained a shoplifting suspect. According to the report, she was observed exiting the store without $197 worth of items in a grocery cart. She was advised not to return to the store.
Police also issued a summons for theft to a 63-year-old Akron woman Dec. 27 after loss prevention officer at a South Avenue business told police she attempted to leave the store without paying for $75 worth of merchandise.
