Akron woman thwarted in theft of groceries: Police issued a summons for theft to a 28-year-old Akron woman May 29 after loss prevention observed the suspect enter the store, select and place numerous items valued at $73 in her grocery car, exiting the store without paying for the merchandise. The suspect was detained in the store until police arrived.

Akron man caught with boxes of stolen medicine: Police issued a summons for theft to a 20-year-old Akron man May 27 after an officer stopped the suspect crossing West Avenue on foot on a "Don't Walk" signal. According to the report, the officer proceeded to pat down the suspect, discovering two boxes of Cloriciden, one in his front pants, the other in his pocket. Suspecting theft, the officer told the suspect he was going to take the boxes to Giant Eagle to see if they scanned and check the security video. The suspect admitted he had stolen the medication from Giant Eagle.

Purse, wallet taken from unlocked vehicle: An Oakbourne Circle woman told police May 25 that sometime overnight, someone entered her unlocked vehicle, which was parked in her driveway, removing a $150 Cheetah print purse and a $20 wallet from inside.

Various items removed from unlocked vehicle: A Hanna Drive woman told police May 25 that sometime overnight, someone entered her vehicle, which was unlocked in the driveway, removing $75 work boots, a $10 bucket, $10 worth of cigarettes and $5 in change from inside. Extra patrols were requested.

Wallet, cash, credit cards stolen from vehicle: A Fernwood Avenue man told police May 23 that sometime overnight, someone broke into his vehicle, which was parked in his driveway, removing a $22 wallet, $25 cash and various identification and credit cards from within. According to the report, there was no damage to the vehicle and no purchases made on the credit cards prior to their being canceled.

Purse, wallet taken from unlocked vehicle: A North Avenue woman told police May 23 that sometime overnight, someone entered her unlocked vehicles, which were parked in her driveway, removing a $500 designer purse and a $100 designer wallet which contained her driver's license and assorted credit cards.

Gun stolen from unlocked vehicle: A North Avenue man told police May 23 that sometime overnight, someone removed a loaded $400 Glock from the console of his unlocked vehicle. According to the report, the gun case and an extra magazine of bullets were left in the vehicle.
