Acme Fresh Market collaborates with Don Drumm; 'Make Me Beautiful' Contest supports local arts

Acme Fresh Market is sponsoring a contest for local artists, with the chance for students to win up to $500 for their school's art program. Akron artist Don Drumm created a black and white line drawing exclusively for Acme Fresh Market, and Acme Fresh Market used the drawing to create a designer, reusable bag on material that can be "made beautiful" using crayons, markers, paint or whatever the artist dreams up.

Artists up through grade 12 are invited to make the bag beautiful, and enter their design into a contest with the opportunity to win up to $500 for their school's art program. To enter, students submit a photo of their completed work to www.acmestores.com/DonDrumm. Winners will be selected by popular vote, and the entire community is invited to view the gallery and vote at www.acmestores.com/DonDrumm. The "Make Me Beautiful" bag is available exclusively at all Acme Fresh Market locations while supplies last.

In Tallmadge, Acme Fresh Market is located at 600 South Ave.

There will be a total of six prizes awarded directly to the school art program of the winner's choice -- first-, second- and third-prize in two age groups. First prize is $500, and second- and third-prizes are $250 each -- with prize money going directly to the school art program of the winner's choice. Artists may enter in two age groups -- sixth grade or younger, or seventh through 12th grade. Entrants must designate the school that the prize money will be awarded to at the time they submit their entry.

To enter or to view the gallery and vote on a favorite bag, visit www.acmestores.com/DonDrumm. Entries will be accepted through Sept. 30. Voting closes at midnight Oct. 10. Individuals may vote one time per day per design during the voting period.
