St. Mark Lutheran Church, 158 North Ave., offers the following activities:
• Jan. 13 -- Services with Communion at 8:15 and 10:30 a.m.; Sunday School, 9:15 a.m.; Sunday
School at 9:15 a.m. will focus on determining a vision for the near future; a Stone Soup Luncheon will be served at 11:30 a.m. To make the "one-of-a-kind" soup, congregants are encouraged to take edible soup-type ingredients to the church. The soup will be simmering all morning. Side dishes will also be gratefully accepted.
• Jan. 14 -- Knitting/Crocheting for Charity, 7 p.m.
• Jan. 15 -- WELCA, 1 p.m.; evening Bible study.
• Jan. 16 -- Choir practice, 7:30 p.m.

Maranatha Bible Church Women's Ministry presents program
New Beginnings: When God Turns the Page will be presented by the Women's Ministry of Maranatha Bible Church Jan. 20 from 6 to 7:15 p.m. at Maranatha Bible Church,1424 Killian Road, Akron.
Sue Wells-Langford-Whitman and Kim Bates-Ahlstrom will speak.
Wells-Langford-Whitman has many titles: divorcee, widow, brain surgery survivor, newlywed, mom, step-mom, grandmother and teacher (she has been teaching at Tallmadge High School for 30 years).
Bates-Ahlstrom has been taking baby steps of faith on her journey as a wife and mother of three children, two at home with her and one in heaven.
The event is free and open to the public.
