First Congregational

First Congregational Church of Tallmadge, a Stephen Ministry congregation, has the following Sunday worship schedule: Worship, 8:30 a.m.; Sunday School Hour, 9 a.m.; worship service,10 a.m. Sunday afternoon will be High School Fellowship and Thursday evenings will be Middle School Fellowship. Youth scheduled activities vary according to activities, so contact the office to confirm times.

Warriors' Journey Home Ministry -- Listen, Speak, Heal is scheduled Sept. 25 and Oct. 9 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Veterans and individuals of strong heart who would like to experience the healing circle for veterans are invited to attend. Alzheimer's Caregivers Support Group -- Community members are invited to attend an Alzheimer's Caregivers Support Group on the last Tuesday of the month at 11 a.m. at the church.

Our Lady of Victory

Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church is located at 73 North Ave.

Regular Weekend Mass Schedule: Saturday, 5 p.m.; Sunday, 9 and 11 a.m.

Monthly Grief Support Group meets on the third Friday of each month from 11 a.m. to noon. No registration is required.

Prayer Shawl Ministry -- those who like to knit or crochet and would like to donate their prayer shawls to those who are ill or suffering may join the ministry on the second Wednesday of the month from 1:15 to 2 p.m. at the parish office, as members knit and pray together.

Youth Ministry -- There is a youth group for both the fourth- through eighth-grade that meets on the first and third Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and a high school youth group that meets at various times. For more information, contact Katie Yockey at the parish office.

Knights of Columbus meet the first Monday of the month.

AA -- Wednesdays at 10 a.m. in Room 100.

Tallmadge Lutheran

Living the Five -- Searching for purpose in following Jesus? Waiting for just the right time to get back into worship? Join the TLC family in a five-week journey to meaning and significance in Christ as we learn about Living the Five -- five key purposes of following Jesus. Don't know much about Jesus? 252 Basics -- Parents looking for an opportunity for their children to learn about Jesus in a fun and interactive way may be interested in a new children's ministry education program offered on Sunday mornings for children ages 3 through fifth grade -- 252 Basics from Orange. This children's teaching time is designed to provoke discovery and invite kids into a new understanding of how to grow in their relationship with Jesus. Children will hear 150 key Bible stories, focus on four Faith Skills and 30 Life Aps (practical applications of God's Truth).

Third annual TLC Craft Show -- Oct. 8 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Great offerings from vendors, including fused glass, hand carved flutes, wood pallet art, American Girl and Bitty Baby doll clothes (or for 18-inch dolls), jewelry, many seasonal and holiday offerings, as well as traditional craft show items, baked goods and lunch served by the church's youth group. Community Baptist

This Sunday, at 10:30 a.m. at Community Baptist Church, 274 N. Munroe Road, the Rev. Doug Knox, pastor, will give a sermon on Mark 4:1-20, "Adventures in Dirt." Ask any farmer -- dirt is necessary for life. In his first parable, Jesus calls his followers to become fertile soil for his word.

This Sunday is Charter Sunday and the community is invited to share the church's 24th anniversary.

 

New Direction

New Direction Community Church welcomes everyone to its weekly worship which begins at 10 a.m. each Sunday morning.

The Gospel Project -- An interactive Bible study that allows every age to move through the scriptures at the same pace while offering a setting that is appropriate for each group. Save the dates

Oct. 23 -- Trunk or Treat from 2 to 4 p.m. at the church. The event is designed for the kids and the young at heart in the community as a way of offering an alternative to going door-to-door for treats. Children are invited to beg for treats, as well as play games in a safe, fun environment. Cars will be lined up with decorated trunks and safe candy and treats will be handed out to the little beggars. Refreshments available. A prize will be awarded for the best decorated car. Costumes are encouraged.

Nov. 19 -- Holiday Bazaar. St. Mark is hosting its second annual Holiday Bazaar Nov. 19 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the church.

Gifts, wreaths, baskets, baked goods, crafts and much more will be available for purchase. Proceeds to benefit the St. Mark Sign Fund.

Tallmadge United Methodist

Sunday Morning Worship Services: Contemporary service -- 8:45 a.m., features a band; traditional service -- 10:45 a.m., includes liturgy, organ, hymns and a choir; Fall Sunday School classes resume at 9:45 a.m.

Al Anon continues to meet at the church each Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m.

The Dorcus Quilting Circle meets Mondays at 1 p.m. and Thursdays at 9:30 a.m. All quilters are welcome.

United Methodist Men meet each Thursday at 8:30 a.m. for morning devotions.

Fourth annual Trunk or Treat Halloween Party -- Oct. 23. Food, fun and activities all are welcome. Take the kids for Halloween fun, decorated car trunks and hotdogs. The event is free, but donations to UNICEF would be appreciated. UNICEF is a mission for all children everywhere.

Cut Ups Quilting Ministry -- Every Thursday afternoon the Cut Ups Quilting Ministry meets in the Fellowship Hall and make quilts that are distributed to military personnel stationed around the world. No previous experience is required and all materials and instruction provided.

Thursday Night Group Prayer -- Every Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m. in the church sanctuary.

Queen of Heaven

Weekly Mass schedule: Weekday Masses on Monday, Tuesday and Friday at 8:30 a.m.; also Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Greenview Inn (all are welcome). Weekend Masses on Saturday Vigil at 4:30 p.m., Sunday at 8:15 and 11 a.m.

"Take Your Pets to Mass," an outdoor Mass with pet blessing, will commemorate the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi and his love of animals. It will be held at 11 a.m. Oct. 2 for attendees and their pets (on leashes or caged). Participants are invited to take a lawn chair. In case of rain, pets may be taken into the church for the 11 a.m. Mass. The 4:30 p.m. Saturday Vigil Masses on the first Saturday of each month, will be preceded at 4 p.m. by the praying of the rosary, exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and the Benediction service.
