Holiday Hours

The Tallmadge Recreation Center will be open special hours during the holiday season.

• Dec. 24 -- 5 a.m. to noon

• Dec. 25 -- Closed

• Dec. 31 -- 5 a.m. to noon

• Jan. 1 -- 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for Fitness on the First

Gift cards available now

Tallmadge Recreation Department gift cards are on sale now at the Tallmadge Recreation Center. Gift cards are available in any amount and may be used towards Tallmadge Recreation Center memberships, Maca Aquatic Center memberships, programs or facility rentals.

Adult volleyball

open gyms

A volleyball court has been set aside for recreational pick-up games on Thursdays from 8 to 10 p.m. through Feb. 7, 2013. These open gyms are designed for men and women, ages 16 and older, who want to get together and play volleyball in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Organized team practices are not permitted. Volleyball open gyms are free for TRC Blue and Gold members and $8 per person for non-members.

Youth Future Fitness Club

Encourage children to make 2013 a healthier year with the Future Fitness Club. The Tallmadge Recreation Department is working with Kohl's Community Youth Fitness, by Akron Children's Hospital to offer a fitness program for children ages 8 through 13. Future Fitness Club will be held Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, Jan. 7 through March 1 from 6 to 7 p.m. Participants will learn about healthy fitness and eating habits while participating in games and other non-competitive activities. The program is designed to teach children that fitness can be fun and to motivate them to make healthy lifestyle choices. The group weight management program provides participants the foundation they need to be active on a daily basis for the rest of their lives. The class is free for TRC Gold members (child must be member) and $30 per child for all others. Registration is recommended by Jan. 2 at the TRC or online (use online registration number 421204).

Holiday Break Camp

A Holiday Break Camp for ages 5 through 13 will be offered Dec. 26 through 28 and Jan. 2 through 4 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day. This supervised day camp includes organized games, crafts, field trips, movies and use of the soccer field and basketball courts. Lunch will be provided. Cost is $13 per child per day for residents and $17 per child per day for non-residents. Each additional child, both resident and non-resident, is $11 per day. Before and after camp activities are available from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Children may be registered for before camp activities, after camp activities or both. Morning and afternoon snacks will be provided. Cost for both before and after camp activities is $11 per child per day for residents and $13 per child per day for non-residents. Cost for either before camp activities or after camp activities is $8 per child per day for residents and $10 per child per day for non-residents. The final day to register for camps the week of Dec. 26 is Dec. 19 and the final day to register for camps the week of Jan. 2 is Dec. 26.

Get a head start on

fitness resolutions with Fitness on the First

The Tallmadge Recreation Center will be open on New Year's Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to help members get a jump start on their fitness resolutions. All members are encouraged to take a friend, ages 18 and older, to try the facility free of charge. Guests must take a photo ID and sign a participation waiver upon entrance.

Tallmadge Men's

Basketball Leagues

A fall Men's Basketball League for ages 18 and older will be offered Monday nights, beginning Jan. 7. The league includes eight games plus playoffs for the top four teams. Cost is $475 per team and includes referee fees. Registration forms plus a $100 non-refundable deposit are due by Dec. 28 to reserve a spot in the league.

Maca passes available at pre-season rates

Maca pool passes go on sale Jan. 1 at the TRC. Preseason rates, which are up to $15 off the regular season rates, are good through May 31. Purchase a Tallmadge Recreation Department gift card and give the gift of summer at the neighborhood pool. Contact the TRC for prices.

Tallmadge Indoor

Soccer Leagues

The TRC will host indoor soccer leagues for U-9 through adults starting Jan. 2. Each league plays a 10-game schedule. Cost is $605 per team plus referee fees of $10 per game paid by each manager at each game. Registration closes Jan. 6. A $100 non-refundable deposit is due at registration and full payment is due before the first game.

Online Registration

expanded for programs

The Tallmadge Recreation Department has added to the number of programs included in its online registration. Almost every program offered at the TRC can now be registered for online. Most current TRC members may also renew their monthly or annual memberships online (annual memberships must be paid in full). Visit www.tallmadgerecreation.org and click Register. The registration site may be browsed as a guest, but one must login to register. Those who have been a member of TRC, Maca Aquatic Center or participated in a Tallmadge Recreation Department program in the past already have an account in the system. To obtain a Webtrac ID, username, or password, or for help using the site, please call 330-634-2349.

Dance Classes

with Brittney

New sessions of two youth dance classes -- Ballet Kids and Hip Hop Teens with Brittney Benson are being offered Sundays, Jan. 6 through Feb. 24. All classes will feature recitals on the last day of class. Ballet Kids, which teaches children ages 4 through 6 ballet fundamentals, will be offered from noon to 12:30 p.m. and classes for ages 5 through 6 will be from 12:45 to 1:15 p.m. Cost for Ballet Kids is $45 for residents and $50 for non-residents. Hip Hop Teens for ages 7 through 13 teaches age-appropriate contemporary dances and will run from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Cost for Hip Hop Teens is $50 for residents and $55 for non-residents.
