Tallmadge Home School Open Gym
program
Home school open gyms are available for all home school students in kindergarten through 12th grade Thursdays from 12:45 to 2:30 p.m. The session will run through March 21. Students will learn a variety of sports skills, key health and fitness concepts and how to establish personal fitness goals. No pre-registration is necessary and students may attend as often as they choose. Cost is $3 for members and $5 for non-members. Each class begins with a half to 1 mile timed run.

Crafty Club for
Preschoolers
Crafty Club is a new arts and crafts program for children ages 3 through 6. Participants will work with Miss Kim and Miss Monica creating fun, age-appropriate crafts to take home. Class is from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. March 9. Cost is $6 per class for residents and $8 per class for non-residents. Register by March 4.
Junior Olympic
Volleyball Tournament
The Tallmadge Recreation Department will host Junior Olympic Youth Volleyball Tournaments on Sundays, March 10 and April 14. The basketball courts will be unavailable during this tournament, but the TRC invites members to watch some of the area's best young players compete for the tournament title. Admission is free for spectators
Grandparent's Day
Grandchildren and grandparents are invited to a special day out together March 10 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the TRC. Grandparents and grandchildren will spend the day enjoying crafts, games and ice cream. Participants will receive a keepsake photo. Cost is $5 for residents and $7 for non-residents. Register by March 4.
Family Sports Swap
The Tallmadge Recreation Department is hosting a sports swap in March. Residents may take gently used, clean sports equipment, shoes and spirit wear to the TRC March 4 through 12. When residents take in their used items, they will receive a voucher with the number of items donated. They can take that voucher back to the TRC March 14 between 5 and 8 p.m. to cash it in on "new-to-you" equipment brought in by others.
Scrapbooking Nights
The Tallmadge Recreation Department invites all scrapbookers to the new monthly Scrapbooking Nights at Ritchie Memorial Shelter House, 109 West Ave. The next Scrapbooking Night will be March 15 from 6 p.m. to midnight. The night includes open space for laying out projects, a swap table for unwanted scrapbook items and a light dinner. Presale tickets are recommended and are on sale now at the TRC or online. Cost is $10 presale for residents and $12 presale for non-residents. For those who wish to pay at the door, the cost is $12 for residents and $14 for non-residents. Credit card required.
Spring Break Camp
A Youth Day Camp for ages 5 through 13 will be offered over spring break, March 25 through 29. Camp will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day with before- and after-camp activities available. The supervised camp includes organized games, crafts, field trips, movies and use of the soccer field and basketball courts. Lunch will be provided. Cost for residents is $55 per child per week or $13 per child per day. Cost for non-residents is $75 per child per week or $20 per child per day. The final day to register is March 18 for camp and before and after camp activities.
Before and after camp activities are available as early as 6:30 a.m. and as late as 6:30 p.m. Morning and afternoon snacks will be provided. Cost for both before and after camp activities is $11 per child per day for residents and $13 per child per day for non-residents. Cost for either before care or after care is $8 per child per day for residents and $10 per child per day for non-residents.
American Red Cross
Babysitter's Training Class
An American Red Cross Babysitter's Training Class will be offered March 26 and 27 from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. This class, for ages 11 through 15, will provide participants with the skills and knowledge to safely and responsibly care for infants and children. The class covers topics such as leadership development, the business of babysitting, safety, how to help children behave, basic child care and basic first aid. Children must attend both days of class to become certified in babysitting. Cost is $65 for TRC members and $70 for non-members. Register by March 21.
Annual Easter Egg Hunt
Children are invited to take their Easter baskets to the TRC for the annual Easter Egg Hunt on March 23 at 10:30 a.m. Children will be divided up into the following age groups to hunt for candy-filled eggs and special prizes: 2 through 4, 5 through 6, 7 through 9 and 10 through 12. A special guest will be hopping by, so parents are encouraged to take their cameras.
