Community Expo
set for April 20
Tallmadge Asphalt & Concrete will again serve as event sponsor for the 2013 Tallmadge Community Expo, scheduled for April 20.
The Expo is a one-day, communitywide event that began in 1997 and is held every other year in April. The Expo provides a single venue where Summit County area visitors can come to know the community of Tallmadge and what it has to offer. Guest celebrity this year will be former Ohio State University football coach Jim Tressel, now vice president of strategic engagement for the University of Akron, U of A basketball coach Keith Dambrot and Kent State University head football coach Paul Haynes.
The Expo will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Tallmadge Recreation Center, 46 N. Munroe Road. Exhibitors rent booth space to showcase their products, services and capabilities.
Booth space is moving along, with more than 40 exhibitors booked.
As there is limited space for booths, those who haven't sent in their form to reserve a booth are asked to do so as soon as possible.
Those interested in renting exhibitor booth space should contact the Tallmadge Chamber of Commerce at 330-633-5417 or email tallmadgechamber@onecommail.com.

Business of the Month
Congratulations to Denise Lee from the Tallmadge Branch Library. Denise attended the Feb. 20 luncheon and was named Business of the Month. The Tallmadge Library provides the public with a large variety of events for the community. The Chamber is very privileged to have them as a member and partner in our community events. Here's a little trivia about the library: In 1813, Tallmadge established one of the first public libraries in the county. In 1960, the Tallmadge Library Association was formed, with the purpose of establishing a free public library in Tallmadge. It began working with the Akron Public Library which agreed to provide books and staff if Tallmadge provided the building and furniture.
On March 20, 1961, the Tallmadge Branch Library officially opened at 8 Southeast Ave. On Jan. 11, 1977, a new building, built specifically with the library in mind, opened at 32 South Ave. On Oct. 1, 2000, its newest building opened at 137 East Ave., now known as 90 Community Road.
