Dr. Brian Matthew Jordan, author and professor of Civil War Studies, will be the featured speaker at the Tallmadge Civil War Society's Dec. 17 meeting which begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Old Town Hall on the Circle.

The Tallmadge High School graduate will discuss "The Unfinished Work: The Gettysburg Address, Memory, and the Meaning of the Civil War."

Jordan is a professor at Pennsylvania's Gettysburg College, where he will deliver one of the keynote talks during the 2014 Civil War Institute conference in June.

Attendance is free and open to the public. The meeting will be preceded at 6 p.m. by the Society's annual Christmas Dinner. A $5 donation is suggested. Anyone interested in attending the dinner should contact Phil Goodin at 216-798-5416 to make reservations. The deadline to make reservations is Dec. 10.

The Society meets on the third Tuesday of each month at the Old Town Hall on Tallmadge Circle.
