National anthem bicentennial topic of Tallmadge Historical

Society meeting

The Tallmadge Historical Society welcomes Sharon Myers, "The 1812 Lady," to its Jan. 14 gathering at 7 p.m. at the Old Town Hall on Tallmadge Circle.

Myers' topic will be, "O Say Can You See? The National Anthem Bicentennial 2014." She will share in the celebration of the Bicentennial of the Star-Spangled Flag of 1812. Those in attendance will learn why the flag was made and how it inspired the national anthem, as it flew over Fort McHenry in Baltimore, while the British attacked. A PowerPoint presentation and short video will be included in Myers' presentation.

The Society invites interested students of Tallmadge City Schools to attend.

Family Memberships are available for $10 for those who wish to belong to the oldest active Historical Society in Ohio. There is no charge for the program, and all are welcome to attend.

Refreshments will be served. Attendees are asked to park at Jubilee Donuts directly across from Old Town Hall where an officer will be on duty to assist in crossing the Circle.

There will be no open houses during January and February, however, group tours may be arranged by calling 330-630-9760.
