State of the City
Mayor Dave Kline will give his State of the City Address to Chamber at its Jan. 15 luncheon meeting at Tallmadge Community Center, 80 Community Road. Kline will review the city's accomplishments in 2013 and where the city is headed in 2014. Doors open at 11:20 a.m. with lunch served at 11:50 a.m. Lunch is $12 and reservations are required.
Chamber's new president for 2014-16 is Bruce Beckwith of Beckwith Heating and Cooling Inc. Beckwith has been a Chamber trustee since 2006. Mike Carter of KeyBank will serve as vice president; Cheryl Ray of PNC Bank is treasurer; Frank Salamone of Montrose Serpentini Group is secretary; and Past President is Jim West of Howard Hanna Real Estate.
New trustees for 2014 are Jim Donovan, Donovan Bagnoli Funeral home; Mark Salerno, Salerno Law Firm; Michelle Smith, Essex Healthcare of Tallmadge; and Jeff Thompson, Jeff the Plumber.
The Tallmadge Chamber of Commerce will host a Casino Night March 8 at Underwood Hall, 1945 Mogadore Road, Kent. Doors open at 6 p.m., dinner will be served and tables will open at 6:30 p.m. Cost is $70 per person which includes dinner, drinks and "play" money.
There will be 18 tables for sponsors on a first come, first served basis: 11 blackjack, one hold 'em, once craps, one let it ride, one roulette, one Caribbean stud, one three-card and one chuck a luck.
The cost is $125 dollars which includes displaying the advertiser's name and contact information and the dealer will pass out the advertiser's business cards for each person at the table.
Also, there will be a money sponsor. The money sponsor will get their logo and information on every cash dollar and their business cards will be "clipped" to the money. The money sponsor will go to the highest bidder and starts at $400.
Chamber is also asking for major prizes for the auction and auction items for the prize money at the end of the night. A total of 35 awards are being sought.
