New AARP Smart Driver Course to be offered Feb. 20
The new AARP Smart Driver Course (formerly Driver Safety) will be offered at the Tallmadge Community Center, 80 Community Road, Feb. 20 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost is $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-members.
The course is open to all licensed drivers 50 and older. New concepts will be provided to better compensate for age-related changes in vision, hearing and reaction time. After completing the course, participants may qualify for a lower cost of car insurance.
No tests are handed in and there is no actual driving. Trained volunteers conduct the sessions.
A total of four, four-hour classes are scheduled for four Thursdays in 2014:
Registration is limited and pre-registration is required.
Participants are asked to take their valid driver's license with them to class. Checks may be made payable to AARP.
Those interested in taking the course may call the community center at 330-633-5610 to register.
