Explosion near Glendale Cemetery topic

Bill Wilkerson will discuss the dramatic explosion near the Glendale Cemetery in 1977 at a joint meeting of the Tallmadge Civil War and Tallmadge Historic societies at 7 p.m. March 11 in Old Town Hall on Tallmadge Circle.
The two organizations host an annual joint meeting in March.
Vandals poured a volatile liquid into Akron's sewers on June 23, 1977, resulting in an explosion that damaged city streets and the Glendale Cemetery. Contemporary reports said there were no injuries as a result of the explosion.
Wilkerson will address history of the event at the meeting.
The annual co-op meeting is open to the public and free to attend.
