Crafty Club for

preschoolers

Preschoolers can show off their crafty side at the Tallmadge Recreation Center's Crafty Club May 10 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Participants will work with Miss Kim and Miss Monica creating fun, age-appropriate crafts to take home. Cost is $6 for residents and $8 for nonresidents. The last day to register is May 5.

Indoor Yard Sale

TRC is hosting a spring Indoor Yard Sale May 3 from 9 a.m. to noon. Those interested in clearing out their clutter and making a few extra dollars can register to be a seller at the event. Ten-foot by 10-foot booths are $15 and a double booth is $24. Sellers may take their own tables or rent the TRCs for $8 each. Sellers can begin setting up at 7 a.m. the day of the sale. The last day to register as a seller is April 28. Looking for a few items to purchase? The event is free to browse.

Summer Swim Lessons at Maca Aquatic Center

The Tallmadge Recreation Department will offer summer swim lessons at Maca Aquatic Center for all ages this summer. Lessons start the week of June 9. Classes are Mondays and Wednesdays, Tuesdays and Thursdays or Saturdays. Morning and evening classes are available. Early online registration for residents who are Maca pass holders begins May 5 at 1 p.m. All residents and all Maca pass holders can begin registering online May 12 at 1 p.m. All others may begin online registration May 19 at 1 p.m. In person registration will begin at the TRC May 27. Cost is $50 per child for Maca pass holders and $60 per child for all others.

Summer College Passes at TRC

The TRC is offering a summer deal for college students home from school for the summer. College passes will be on sale May 5 through Aug. 31 and will be valid for 117 days from purchase. Cost for a blue membership is $85 for residents and $100 for nonresidents and cost for a gold membership is $110 for residents and $125 for nonresidents. A valid college ID is required at time of purchase.

Home School Open Gym program

Home school open gyms for all home school students in kindergarten through grade 12 will be offered Thursdays from 12:45 to 2:30 p.m., through May 22. Students will learn a variety of sports skills, key health and fitness concepts and how to establish personal fitness goals. No pre-registration is necessary and students may attend as often as they choose. Parents may choose to pay and play or pay to workout on their own. Cost is $4 for residents and $6 for nonresidents. Each class begins with a ½ to 1 mile timed run. The upcoming schedule follows:

• May 1 -- Speed & Agility/Target Toss

• May 8 -- Flag Football/Sharks & Minnows

• May 15 -- Soccer/Tennis/Basketball

• May 22 -- Kids Choice (picnic)

Youth Future Fitness Club

Children are encouraged to make 2014 a healthier year with the Future Fitness Club. The program is designed for children ages 8 through 13 and will take place Mondays and Wednesdays, through June 4 from 5 to 6 p.m. at the TRC. Children will learn about healthy fitness and eating habits while participating in games and other non-competitive activities. The program is designed to teach children that fitness can be fun and to motivate them to make healthy lifestyle choices. The class is free for TRC members (child must be member) and $5 daily drop in fee for nonmembers.
