Center open one more week
This is the last week to enjoy the splish-splashing good time at Maca Pool. The pool will be open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday through Sunday until Sunday, Aug. 17. Daily admission rates for residents are $5 for ages 3 through 12, $8 for ages 13 through 59 and $1 for those 60 and older. Daily admission rates for nonresidents are $8 for ages 3 through 12, $11 for ages 13 through 59 and $6 for ages 60 and older. Children ages 2 and younger are admitted free.
Department Fall/Winter Brochure
Look for the Tallmadge Recreation Department Fall/Winter Brochure in the Tallmadge Express Aug. 24. The program brochure is packed with upcoming recreation programs from September 2014 through February 2015, including new sports, events and programs for children and adults. Copies will also be available at the recreation center, city building and community center.
Girl Scout Pool Party
All area Girl Scouts are invited to a pool party at Maca Aquatic Center Aug. 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. Troops are permitted to take snacks for a picnic dinner at the pool. Cost is $1 for resident and nonresident scouts with a Maca membership, $6 for resident scouts without a Maca membership and $9 for nonresident scouts without a Maca membership. Preregistration at the TRC is required.
Labor Day 5K
The Tallmadge Recreation Department will host its annual Labor Day 5K and 1 mile Family Fun Run Sept. 1. The races will start at the TRC. The 5K begins at 9 a.m. and the fun run begins at 9:05 a.m. The path runs through the neighborhoods adjacent to the TRC and ends with a loop around the indoor track. Race fee includes computerized chip timing, T-shirt, refreshments and prizes for the top finishers in all age groups (five year increments). Visit http://www.rsracingsystems.com/ to register online.
Last day of Movies in the Parks
The TRC and the City of Tallmadge will show the final movie in the park of the season at Lions Park on Aug. 14 -- "The Sandlot" (PG). The movie is free and will start at dark. Attendees are asked to take a chair or blanket for seating.
