Halloween Street Dance -- The TRC will close Oct. 27 at 6 p.m. to prepare for the annual dance which will take place in the TRC parking lot from 7 to 9 p.m. that evening. Attendees are invited to scare up their best costume for an evening of treats, food, fun and DJ-supplied dance music. Prizes for costumes will be awarded. Beggar's Night will run from 5:30 to 7 p.m. with the dance immediately following.
Middle School Dance -- The TRC will close early Nov. 5 due to the Middle School Dance. The lower level of the rec center (basketball courts, soccer field, track, aerobic rooms, etc.) will close at 6 pm; the upper level will close at 7 pm. We apologize for the inconvenience.
The Tallmadge Recreation Center will serve as a polling location for the election Nov. 8. Voting will be on Court 4. Rec members are asked to be aware of the following considerations on Nov. 7 and 8:
Pickleball will remain on Court 3
SilverSneakers classes will be moved to Court 2
There will only be one open basketball court available after 6 p.m. Nov. 8
All courts will be closed until after voting has ended. There will be no open gym basketball or school team practice. All classes that normally take place on the courts will be canceled for the day.
Only the small 10-lap track will be in use
Voters will be entering through door 9 located near the back of the building by court 4.
American Elite Youth Gymnastics -- Introduces children to the world of gymnastics on Saturday mornings at the TRC. Classes will be held Nov. 5 through Dec. 17 for children ages 18 months through 2 from 9 to 9:30 a.m.; children ages 3 through 5 from 9:30 to 10 a.m.; and children ages 6 through 8 from 10 to 10:30 a.m. No classes scheduled on Nov. 26. Instructors will teach participants the foundations of basic gymnastics and tumbling moves. Cost is $45 for residents and $50 for non-residents. Register by Oct. 31.
American Elite Dance & Cheer -- Children ages 5 through 10 can learn dance and cheerleading moves and routines from instructors with American Elite. Classes are held Saturdays, Nov. 5 through Dec. 17 from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. at the TRC. No classes scheduled on Nov. 26. Participants will learn the fundamentals of dance, cheerleading and fitness. The class session will end with a dance and cheer performance by each class at their regularly scheduled class time. Participants should take a water bottle and dress comfortably in workout or dance attire and athletic shoes. Cost for the session is $50 for residents and $55 for non-residents. Register by Oct. 31.
Rock'n at the Rec Middle School Night -- Tallmadge middle school students are invited to the TRC Nov. 5 from 7 to 10 p.m. for a rock'n dance party with a DJ, games, prizes, inflatable fun, basketball, football, soccer, volleyball, pizza and refreshments. Tickets will be sold at the middle school during lunch hours the week of Oct. 31. Tickets are $7 pre-sale or $8 at the door.
Home School Open Gym -- Thursday, Oct. 20, 12:45 to 2:30 p.m. Home school open gym is for students in kindergarten through 11th grade. This week kids will participate in flag football and a parachute activity. No pre-registration necessary. Cost is $4 for residents and $6 for non-residents.
Tallmadge Indoor Soccer Leagues -- TRC will host indoor soccer leagues for U-9 through adults. Leagues start the week of Oct. 30. Each league plays a 10 game schedule. Cost is $605 per team plus referee fees of $10 per game paid by each manager at each game. All youth coaches must have proof of concussion recognition training. Registration closes Oct. 19.
