1 High school athletics: The Tallmadge baseball team is scheduled to host Akron ArchbishopHoban May 8 at Dave Young Field. Play is set to begin at 5 p.m. The baseball team is set to host the Canton South-Akron Kenmore winner in an Akron Division II sectional title game May 9 at 4:30 p.m. The Tallmadge softball team is scheduled to host Aurora May 8 at 4:30 p.m. The softball team is set to host the Canal Fulton Northwest-Akron Kenmore winner in a Canton Division II sectional title game May 11 at 4:30 p.m.

Relay For Life: The American Cancer Society will host its annual Tallmadge Relay For Life event May 13 from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. at the Tallmadge Recreation Center, 46 N. Munroe Road.

The 12-hour event will feature walking, fun, food, entertainment, games and more to help raise money for the American Cancer Society.

Miss Katie's Preschool Playgroup will provide inflatables and activities for children from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Children will need a wristband for entrance into Miss Katie's Playgroup, which includes unlimited use of all inflatables. The cost for wristbands is $10 apiece from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and $5 apiece from 3 to 5 p.m.

USPS Food Collection: The United States Postal Service will host its annual food drive May 13. This is the 25th year for the "Stamp Out Hunger" Canned Food Drive. The event is supported by the USPS and the National Association of Letter Carriers. Donations will help to resupply local food banks. Residents are asked to place non-perishable items in a bag and leave it in a visible place on the porch for the mail carrier to collect. Residents may also drop food off to the local post office. Reminder postcards will be mailed out to residents prior to May 13. For more information, search for NALC annual food drive online.
