The second annual Four-Leaf Clover Run and Family Fun Run, sponsored by Four-Leaf Clover Inc., will benefit local charity partner, Project Ed Bear and The Stephen A. Comunale Jr. Family Cancer Foundation. The agency also has adopted Cameron Fortney, a 17-year-old Tallmadge High School senior, as its special fighter.
Cameron was diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia last fall as he was beginning his senior year.
According to Four-Leaf Clover Inc. representatives, his cancer is treatable and his prognosis is good.
He is getting treatment five days a week after school. Cameron's family is faced with mounting medical expenses, so Four-Leaf Clover Inc. reps say he will receive one-third of all the proceeds.
The four-mile run/walk is scheduled for June 10 at St. Vincent DePaul Church, 164 W. Market St., Akron.
