This year's 149th annual Memorial Day Parade has been set for May 29 beginning at 10 a.m., with parade participants assembling in the Our Lady of Victory parking lot at 9.30 a.m.

The parade will proceed to the Circle and advance to the Tallmadge Cemetery for the service and a chance to reflect on the sacrifices made by veterans.

According to Tallmadge American Legion Post 255 Cmdr. Jim Forsythe, Memorial Day is a time to reflect and honor this country's War Dead, "for they gave there all."

The Tallmadge American Legion is asking all veterans, whether they are affiliated with a veterans' group or not, to march in the parade.

Leading off the parade this year will be The Tallmadge Police Honor Guard and the Tallmadge American Legion Post 255. John Ziegler's older military vehicle will be passing in review. The Tallmadge High school Band; Tallmadge Fire and Police Departments; Gold Star Mothers; Mayor Dave Kline and City Council; Tallmadge Girl Scouts; Brownies; Tallmadge Primetimers; Tallmadge Lions; Tallmadge Boy Scouts and cub Scouts; and military veterans, along with other groups, will march in the parade.

Court of Appeals of Ohio Judge Thomas Teodosio is this year's featured speaker.

Those who wish to participate are asked to contact Forsythe at 330-673-7638 or Hank Skowronski at 330-633-5060.
