Celebrate Independence Day: The annual Stow Fourth of July parade, sponsored by the city of Stow Parks and Recreation Department and the Kiwanis Club of Stow-Munroe Falls, will step off at 10 a.m. from the Stow-Kent shopping center on Kent Road and proceed west to Park Drive, just beyond Holy Family School.

The 2017 Stow Fourth of July parade theme is "Salute to Veterans."

Earlier that morning, the annual Stow Firecracker Run will begin at 7:30 a.m. at Holy Family Church. Runners will go east to Target Plaza, then back to the church.

The Firecracker Run and the parade will result in some road closures. Kent Road will be closed from Marsh Road to Englewood Drive and Darrow Road will be closed from Graham Road in Stow to Pinehurst Road in Munroe Falls from 7:15 to 8:30 a.m. for the Firecracker Run and then from 9:30 a.m. to noon for the parade. The only through traffic permitted during the does notcross Kent Road(parade route) during the stated times that roads are closed.

Muy caliente! The Latin Jazz Orchestra will perform Friday, July 7 at 7 p.m. at Goodyear Heights Metro Park / Main Entrance, 2077 Newton St., Akron. Enjoy the Latin jazz music of Latin Jazz Orchestra at this free concert, presented by the City of Akron. For more information, call 330-375-2311.

Slip into some blue suede shoes: On Saturday, July 8, Kavan the World's #1 Rock 'n Roll Elvis will perform on Tallmadge Circle. Kavan is a nationally-recognized Elvis tribute artist and entertainer. He has been a fan of Elvis Presley for his entire life, performing on stage since the age of three. He won the title of "The Worlds #1 Rock-n-Roll Elvis" on the BBC television show "The World's Greatest Elvis," and has won Elvis tribute completions in Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, New York and Ohio. Most recently he was named the 2013 Midwest Tribute to the King" Grand Champion.
