Hidden in Plain Sight Jan. 9 at Tallmadge High School

Looks can be deceiving. That's the message behind a traveling exhibit created by the Bath and Copley Township Police Departments. The departments constructed what appears to be the bedroom of the average teenager. But items in the room that parents take for granted as nothing unusual can actually be signals the teenager could be involved in risky and even illegal activity.

The exhibit, called "Hidden in Plain Sight," will be on display at Tallmadge High School Jan. 9. Doors open for browsing at 6 p.m. with a presentation from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The exhibit is open to adults only and there is no charge. The audience is encouraged to explore and interact with items in the display which may be indicative that a teenager is involved in substance abuse, underage drinking, eating disorders, sexual activity, and more. Organizers say participants will be "enlightened, educated and astonished" by what they will learn.

The Tallmadge Council of PTAs, Tallmadge City Schools and the Tallmadge Police Department will also be involved in presenting the exhibit. To make reservations or to request further information, contact Connie McNeal at csmcneal3@aol.com or Anna Neff at annieneff1@gmail.com.
