Dynamics Community Theater of Tallmadge closes its 20th season with Louisa May Alcott's classic tale, "Little Women."
The adaptation by John D Ravold has two performances on March 7 and 8, with a 7 p.m. curtain at Tallmadge High School auditorium, 140 North Munroe Road.
Directed by Leah McConnell, assisted by Kirsten Fitzgerald, the story is set during the Civil War. While Father (played by Larry McWilliams) is away serving as a chaplain in the war, Marmee (the mother, played by Angela Bozic) and her "little women" prepare for Christmas. Meg (played by Sarah Mars) is the eldest and dreams of someday having a beautiful home, love, and a family of her own. Jo (played by Lisa Van Gaasbeek) fancies herself the "man" of the family and wants to be a writer. Every year she writes a play that the girls perform for the family on Christmas Eve. Then there is feisty Amy (played by Kaylynn Neidert) who desires to go to Rome and become a famous artist. Beth (played by Regina McWilliams) is frail and sickly and wants nothing more than to stay and take care of Marmee and Father.
As the girls rehearse the Christmas play for Marmee, Aunt March (played by Kathy Frazier), and two family friends, Laurie (played by Ryan Dyke) and Mr. Brooke (played by Ben Arrington), a telegram arrives. Father is ill and Marmee is to go to him in Washington. She hurriedly packs and leaves, accompanied by Mr. Brooke.
When Marmee returns with Father, the family is together again. The story continues to tell of Jo, Meg, Amy, and Beth as they grow up and attempt to follow their dreams. In the third act, Professor Bhaer (played by Denny Semick), a neighbor of Jo's in New York, joins the March family to celebrate Marmee's birthday.
Tickets can be purchased online at www.dynamicstheater.org. They are $10 for adults and $8 for students and seniors (60 and older).
At each performance, tickets will also be sold for a "Little Women" basket. Tickets for the raffle are one for $1 or six for $5. Drawing will be at the end of each show.
