Soprano Amanda Forsythe once again joins Apollo's Fire for an evening of passionate opera arias and fiery string concertos in three concerts in various locations April 24 through 27.
Other highlights of the evening include concertmaster and associate concertmaster, Olivier Brault and Johanna Novom, joining forces for Vivaldi's virtuosic "Concerto in A minor for Two Violins." In addition, flutist Kathie Stewart perform's Vivaldi's sparkling "Goldfinch" Concerto in D major (Il Gardellino). The orchestral highlight of the evening, however, promises to be Vivaldi's "La Folia" (Madness), which has won accolade around the globe, performing to sold-out crowds at the Wigmore Hall and Madrid Royal Theatre. Performed by memory, this piece features violin soloists Olivier Brault and Julie Andrijeski.
After local performances with Forsythe, the program heads to Europe to join with French sensation Sandrine Piau (soprano) stopping in Birmingham (Birmingham International Concert Series) and London (St John's Smith Square), UK and the Bregenz Festival Hall (Austria). Performances May 7 through 10. Tour details may be found at http://apollosfire.org/touring/touring-engagements/
