Summit Choral Society performs 'A Mass For Peace'

Summit Choral Society will perform April 26 starting at 7:30 p.m. at the Akron Civic Theatre as we embark on a musical odyssey featuring Karl Jenkins' masterpiece, A Mass for Peace, being presented as a commemoration of Kent State University's May 4th, 1970 tragedy & Carol Barnett's cutting edge The World Beloved: Bluegrass Mass performed by Ohio's own Honeytown Bluegrass Ensemble in collaboration with Summit Choral Society's Masterworks Chorale.

Jerry M. Lewis Professor Emeritus of Sociology at Kent State University will .present a pre concert lecture at 6:30 p.m. on the Kent State May 4th tragedy. As a 1970 Kent State faculty member and witness to the shootings, Dr. Lewis has spent his life and career researching, memorializing and lecturing about this tragedy. He has written extensively about the events of May 4th and is co-founder of the annual vigil for the slain and wounded students held each year on the Kent State campus.
