Chorus to peform free concert in Twinsburg

The Chagrin Valley Choral Union will perform May 18 at 3 p.m. at Ss. Cosmas and Damian Church, 10419 Ravenna Road in Twinsburg.

The chorus, which is celebrating its 60 year anniversary, is directed by J.D. Goddard, with new accompanist Patrick Wickliffe, The Chagrin Valley Choral Union will perform a free concert of sacred, classical music by composers from the 16th century to the present.

The afternoon will include Palestrina's Adoramus Te; Garau's Adoramus Te Christe, Ave Verum (world premiere) and Velum Templi (world premiere); Fresi's Christus Factus Est (American premiere); Rossi's Shir Hama'alot; Lewandowski's Enosj Kechatsir; Tchaikovsky's Cherubic Hymn; von Weber's Psalm 150, Perosi's Magnificat and Handel's Halleluia Chorus from the Messiah.

Several area authors will be available May 17 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Barnes & Noble, 4015 Medina Road in Fairlawn.

Hattie Larlham

Hattie Larlham will host an Open House and Book Signing May 4 from 1 to 3 p.m. at its Center for Children with Developmental Disabilities - 9772 Diagonal Road in Mantua.

Featured guest authors are R.C. Larlham and Susan Busch.

Son of Hattie and Richard Larlham, Richard Charles Larlham will be reading from and signing copies of his new book, "The Old Man and Me." This book details the entertaining tales of his childhood growing up on a farm in rural Ohio during the "Golden Years."

Susan Busch, mother of a child with Deletion 22q. 11 syndrome and friend of Hattie Larlham, will be signing and reading from her book, "Yearning for Normal." This heartfelt memoir follows the journey she and her son took pushing through the struggle of his disease towards hope.

Hattie Larlham will also be showcasing its agencies and departments at the open house.

Egg decorating classes offered

The Ohio Egg Artists Guild will host egg decorating classes May 17 at 10 a.m. at The Hub, 1234 S. Cleveland-Massillon Road in Copley.

There will be two classes offered: Traditional Pysanky with Vera Kap, and non traditional pysanky wax creating a brown etched egg w/Suzie Murcer.

Cost is $15 per student, and classes are for ages 10 through adult. Send payment to OEAG, P.O. Box 13414, Fairlawn 44333.
