Tallmadge -- The Board of Education re-elected Rick Kellar as president and Brad Croskey as vice president of the Board for the 2013 calendar year during an organizational meeting Jan. 2.
Both served in the same leadership roles for the 2012 calendar year.
Kellar, who was vice president during 2010 and 2011, said he's "excited" to serve again as president.
"I view it as a role that really is just to help the meetings go smoothly," he said. "It's really not a first among equals. I appreciate the confidence my fellow Boardmembers have in me to allow me to do it for another year."
Kellar called being president "interesting" because as the meeting facilitator, he often finds himself "outside of the discussion" of the Board.
Although Kellar said he doesn't have an agenda to pursue while he's president, he said he'll work on improving communication between the Board and those with whom it works.
Kellar was elected to serve the remaining one year of a vacated four-year term in 2005. He was elected to a four-year term in 2006 and is now serving the last year of his second term, which expires Dec. 31.
Croskey thanked Kellar for his willingness to be the president again and said he'll help Kellar out as much as he needs and fill in during any absences.
"I just appreciate all the members of the School Board because they're all here for the right reasons; it's for the benefit of the kids and the school district," said Croskey, who is serving the last year of his first term. "That's what I feel the best about as far as participating still."
The Board also approved its meeting schedule for 2013. The next regular meeting is set for 6 p.m. Jan. 16 in the Community Room at Tallmadge High School.
