The Tallmadge Police Department would like to notify area residents about a growing theft problem related to power tools stolen from parked work trucks in the area.

According to Lt. Ron Williams, the thefts have been occurring overnight from vehicles parked in residential driveways. The suspects are cutting locks if necessary to gain access.

Early in 2012, Williams said the TPD notified residents about a rash of burglaries and requested citizen assistance in reporting suspicious activity. A tip from an alert citizen led to the arrest of a serial burglar and solved a large number of cases in Tallmadge and other communities.

We are asking for assistance again, since the partnership of law enforcement and concerned citizens leads to safer and more secure communities, he added.

The TPD asks residents to call police immediately if they see or hear anything they consider to be of a suspicious nature. Patrol officers are happy to respond to any such calls to investigate suspicious activities.
