Tallmadge City Schools celebrates 'National School Breakfast Week'

Tallmadge -- Students in Tallmadge Schools will learn about the importance of eating healthy school breakfasts during National School Breakfast Week March 4 to 8.

The idea behind the week is to increase students' participation in school breakfasts by educating them about the health benefits associated with eating it every morning.

The theme at the elementary schools is "Go Bananas for School Breakfast" and "Supercharge Your Day with a Healthy School Breakfast" at the middle and high schools.

Each day, students will learn how breakfast can benefit them, from improving cognitive skills and concentration in class to helping their bodies grow and do well in sports.

Throughout the week on designated days, each school building will feature a healthy breakfast item. Tallmadge High School will have flatbread sandwiches March 4, Dunbar Primary School tropical smoothies March 5, Munroe Elementary School yogurt parfaits March 6 and Tallmadge Middle School flatbread sandwiches March 7.

Students will have a chance to participate in contests and win prizes.
