Dunbar Primary School students celebrate Dr. Seuss' 109th birthday

Schools across country recognize 'Read Across America Day'

Published:

Tallmadge -- Students at Dunbar Primary School celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday March 1 by reading books by the famous children's author, eating green eggs and ham for lunch and watching the movie "The Cat in the Hat."

If he were alive, Dr. Seuss would be 109 years old.

The event was part of the National Education Association's "Read Across America Day" that promotes reading for students' future academic and professional success. The day was recognized in public schools throughout the country.

Administrators, staff and teachers throughout the Tallmadge City School District and members of the Board of Education read Dr. Seuss' classic stories in classrooms at Dunbar, including "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish."

The school's Parent Teacher Association provided a special treat to celebrate the occasion.
