Total Christian Television, also known as TCT TV, opened its Akron/Tallmadge station doors at 1957 Brittain Road on May 20.

This is the 14th broadcast station for TCT which is in its 36th year of business.

The grand opening date was also the day of station's anniversary.

TCT is a 24-hour Christian network with a variety of programs which are broadcasted all over the world.

Nearly half of its programming is produced by TCT, according to station manager Tom Nolan. Others include programming from famous Christian speakers.

"We started broadcasting from our location in Kent four years ago. We didn't have a studio location that came with that broadcast facility, though. We'd been looking for a studio in the area, and this one had a good location and good access," he said.

TCT's transmitter is located in Kent. Other TCT station locations are in Edgerton, Ohio, as well as Michigan, New York, Indiana and Illinois.

Four different programs are filmed at the Brittain Road location: TCT Today, TCT Alive, Ask the Pastor and Public Report. TCT Today is the station's flagship program, and is an afternoon talk program with notable speakers and ministers.

TCT films Wednesdays and Fridays at the Brittain Road location and intends to do more broadcasting in the future, and eventually do Monday through Friday filming.

Another large part of TCT's services is its Prayer Center -- a 24-hour call center with more than 500 volunteers around the world.

The Brittain Road location has 15 phones manned to answer calls from around the world. Calls are taken from nearly 40 local volunteers. The TCT prayer number is 1-800-232-9855.
