Tallmadge -- A reminder to residents and small businesses the deadline to opt out of the city of Tallmadge's natural gas aggregation is Oct. 4.
The city has contracted with Constellation Energy Gas Choice Inc. to be its new supplier for the Natural Gas Governmental Aggregation Program. Those who participate in the program will be charged a fixed rate of $4.65 per mcf for the duration of the contract, which is Nov. 1, 2013, to Oct. 31, 2014.
Natural gas customers are automatically enrolled in the program unless they opt out. Those who wish to stay in the program aren't required to take action, while those who would like to join or leave it need to either opt in or out.
Letters explaining the program were to be mailed to all natural gas customers by the middle of September, but those who aren't in the aggregation hadn't received them as of Monday, according to Mayor Dave Kline.
To join or opt out of the aggregation, call Constellation Energy at 800-718-1493. Keep the Dominion East Ohio Gas bill handy as Constellation will need an account number and other information from the bill.
Participants in the aggregation will receive one bill from Dominion that will include Constellation's natural gas charge. In the event of an emergency or maintenance issue, customers should continue to contact Dominion.
