Tallmadge firefighters battle fifth blaze in four days

The Tallmadge Fire Department responded to it’s fifth fire in four days this morning at a little after midnight.
No injuries were reported.
A Tallmadge Police unit on patrol observed a large amount of smoke coming from the Custom Auto Detailing and Car Wash at 411 West Ave.
According to Tallmadge Fire Chief Pat Gaffney, upon arrival fire units forced entry and found the fire in the rear utility room.
The fire was brought under control in 20 minutes, said Gaffney, noting the building had some minor structural damage, but the smoke and heat did extensive damage to the building’s contents, which included three vehicles.
The Akron Fire Department provided mutual aid.
Fire investigators have located the area of origin and will continue the investigation today to determine the cause.
“We are still awaiting the cost estimates on damage to the structure and its contents,” said Gaffney.
