Tallmadge Police Det. Jeremy McGee has been named January’s “Top Cop” by the Summit County Prosecutor’s Office.
According to the SCPO newsletter, McGee has been helpful in conducting online investigations to identify sexual predators.
A member of the Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children task force (ICAC), McGee and other members scour the Internet looking for sexual predators. Funded through the U.S. Department of Justice, the task force comprises local, state and federal law enforcement throughout Ohio.
Investigators within the task force search online file sharing sites for people uploading, downloading and sharing child pornography. Task force members also visit chat rooms that specialize in sexual hook-ups.
When IACC members identify possible predators, they set up a sting.
Although employed by the Tallmadge Police Department, McGee investigates cases throughout Summit County.
