Tallmadge -- Local shop Conversations & Co. has moved to 22 Northwest Ave. offering new products and sessions.
Co-owner Jana Tucker plans to fill every room with something different in the two-story Victorian-style building.
Tucker said she and her four siblings own the shop. However, she and her sister, Lisa Williams, coined the name Conversations & Co. and decided on the business's contents.
"We [Tucker and Williams] dreamed of having a place where women could have all kinds of conversations about what they want to wear, what piece of jewelry [to select], what kind of tea or chocolate [to sample]," Tucker said. "It's just a place where they can feel comfortable talking about anything."
On the first floor, the shop offers a selection of vintage clothing and jewelry, handmade soaps, teas, inspirational and spiritual books, cards, pastries and chocolates. Tucker said she is planning to add a line of coffee and yoga and meditation supplies.
The second floor includes specifically purposed rooms. The grief center offers a place for individuals to gather to express sorrow over any sort of loss through various mediums, such as art. Another room offers space for yoga, meditation, Tai Chi, children's marshal arts and possibly women's self defense sessions. Remaining spaces include, a massage room, a small workshop room for women's groups and book clubs, and space for Clinical Hypnotherapist Kelly Brown to guide people through trauma.
Tucker said the upper level should be finished by the end of January.
"I think this venture is going to be this family's gift to Tallmadge," salesperson Edna McCauley said. "It is an absolute fabulous gift. Most of the things will be more of a gift to women. But the grief piece, there is no age, sexual boundaries or color boundaries ... everybody experiences grief. It doesn't have to be the death of someone, it can just be a loss of anything, something that's very hurtful."
The store's hours of operation are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday.
