Tallmadge -- Eric J. Hartman, 37, of Tammery Drive, was sentenced to eight years in prison March 20 for sex-related crimes.

In January, Hartman pleaded guilty to three counts of pandering sexually oriented material, a felony of the second degree; two counts of sexual battery, a felony of the third degree; extortion, a felony of the third degree; and three counts of pandering sexually oriented material, a felony of the fifth degree.

He was also labeled a Tier III sex offender, which requires him to register his address and place of employment every 90 days for the rest of his life, according to a March 21 press release from Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh's office.

Judge Tammy O'Brien handed down the sentence.

The release stated that Hartman forced a female friend to open several credit cards, which he then maxed out, and coerced the woman, who is developmentally delayed, to have sex with him.

While on house arrest for those crimes, Hartman became the subject of an investigation by the Internet Crimes Against Children task force, the release stated. He admitted to downloading child pornography over the course of two months, according to the release.
