A Tallmadge man has been arrested on two counts of attempted murder.

Quashane Varner Jr., 21, was arrested for two counts of attempted murder, according to a press release issued by Tallmadge police Chief Ron Williams.

Warrants were issued for Varner following an incident at Saxon Village Apartments on May 22, where one person was shot in the lower back and another in the leg. Both have recovered from their injuries.

Williams said Varner had an ongoing dispute with a group of people who were outside his apartment. He allegedly stepped outside and shot two of them prior to fleeing the apartments in a vehicle.

"Varner has a violent criminal history which includes previous firearms incidents," said Williams. "He was stopped by the Akron Police Department the night of Aug. 15 in a stolen auto and is incarcerated in the Summit County Jail. This case will go before the Summit County Grand Jury next week."
