Two thousand nine hundred seventy-six candles lined the sidewalks of Tallmadge Circle Park on Sunday, as residents gathered to remember the victims of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States. Each candle represented a life that was lost: red for fire department personnel; blue for police; green for military; and white for civilians. The Rev. William Michaels, pastor of St. Mark Lutheran Church and chaplain for the Tallmadge Fire Department, was the keynote speaker. The Rev. Mike Matusz, pastor of Our Lady Of Victory Church, gave the invocation, blessing first responders and their vehicles.
