Tallmadge resident and business owner Craig Ray recently returned from Burning Man 2016 in Black Rock City, Nev. This was Ray's third year in a row, and the 30th anniversary of the event which is a celebration and experiment in community, art and radical self-reliance. Ray says Burning Man began in 1986 in San Francisco with a few dozen attendees, and has grown to approximately 70,000 participants this year. "I was glad to show my local pride by posing with a copy of the Tallmadge Express," said Ray, noting, "Along with me, in both pictures are new friends Heaven from Seattle, on my left and Lilly from Toronto, on my right, as we pose in front of two different art installations during a small dust storm." Of the event, Ray says "It's just amazing that this temporary city pops up in the middle of the desert plays for a week or two and then disappears until the next year. And the art pieces are spread out over the 5-square-mile area so you never really know what you'll come upon as you walk or bike the around. Not to mention it has some of the best 'people watching' I have ever experienced, anywhere."
