Akron -- Visiting Judge James Kimbler sentenced Craig Consilio, 52, of Tallmadge, to six years in prison for driving under the influence and possessing heroin.

According to an announcement made by Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh Oct. 5, on July 26, a Summit County jury found Consilio guilty of operating a vehicle under the influence with specification concerning operating under the influence, a third-degree felony; possession of heroin, a fifth-degree felony; and driving under suspension, a first-degree misdemeanor.

On Oct. 22, 2015, Consilio was driving on Vernon Odom Boulevard in Akron when he crossed over into oncoming traffic, lost control and flipped his car. The vehicle ended up on its side in the front yard of a home. It was later determined Consilio was under the influence of heroin, cocaine and methamphetamines at the time. Investigators also found heroin and hypodermic needles in the vehicle.

This is Consilio's fifth OVI conviction in the past 20 years.
