Brendan Clark, 37, of Tallmadge, pleaded guilty in connection with an attack on a female acquaintance, according to an announcement made by Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh Jan. 17.

Summit County Common Pleas Court Judge Paul Gallagher immediately sentenced Clark to nine years in prison. Gallagher also designated Clark as a Tier III sex offender, which means he must register his address for the rest of his life and must verify the address every 90 days.

Clark pleaded guilty to charges of first-degree rape and domestic violence, a first-degree misdemeanor.

In July 2016, Clark entered the victim's Tallmadge home, threw a chemical in her face and dragged her into a bedroom where he beat her and sexually assaulted her, said Bevan Walsh.

The victim was able to escape and ran outside where she alerted neighbors. The Tallmadge Police Department conducted an investigation and obtained DNA evidence and an admission from Clark.
