lan Brubaker, P.E., P.S., Summit County Engineer, will host the 17th annual Miniature Bridge Building Competition Friday, Feb. 24 at the Summit County Fairgrounds. Registration begins at 7:45 a.m. and the presentation of awards takes place at 2:15 p.m. Bridge building will take place between 8:30 a.m and noon. For any news organization who would like to send a photographer, bridge loading and testing begins at 12:45 p.m. Thirty-six teams from 19 Summit County high schools will be participating.
The competition is designed to encourage high school students to implement scientific and mathematical principles they have learned in the classroom. Along with Brubaker, 18 engineering consulting firms co-sponsor the annual event and offer scholarship opportunities for competition participants who choose a career in civil engineering.
The competition will not be cancelled in the event of inclement weather
