Dunbar Primary School student Ryan Copley, 8, an avid dog lover, turned 8 on March 9. To celebrate his birthday, Ryan chose to collect donations for the Humane Society of Summit County, located in Twinsburg. He said he especially wanted to make sure the animals had plenty of treats and toys. He asked his second grade class, taught by Julie Neidert, to help out. He decided that in lieu of birthday gifts, he would ask his classmates for donations. His family and friends also helped him gather toys, treats, collars, leashes, bowls, etc. for the Humane Society. Ryan's parents, Erin and Jaime Timmons, said “We are very proud that he chose to donate his time and money, as well as getting everyone involved. Giving back is one of the most important lessons our kids can learn.” Pictured is Ryan delivering a box full of pet paraphernalia to the Humane Society.
