The annual fire hydrant flushing in the city of Tallmadge began March 27 and continue weekdays for two to three weeks.
Hydrant flushing removes sediment and iron deposits from the water mains and provides a check of the working conditions of hydrants to insure the best fire protection for the city.
Signs will be posted to alert residents of areas of hydrant flushing.
Water may appear discolored after flushing — run the cold water at the lowest level in the home until clear.
The water is safe to drink, no boiling is necessary.
