Cornerstone Community School is committed to hands-on, experiential teaching, as a way of sparking a life-long love of learning in its students. The small class sizes and student-teacher ratio allow students ample time to work on basic skills and allow instructors to offer enrichment and service activity. Friday afternoons are set aside for an exploratory workshop for first- through sixth-grade students. Parents and other interested community members provide guidance for Cornerstone students to help them acquire new skills and engage in special projects. These workshops are two to three weeks in length and are independent of the regular thematic curricula. Content for our current session includes wood working, track and field, golf, T-ball, cooking, birding and BMX racing. This program allows the student to grow emotionally, socially, spiritually and physically. The children are given an opportunity to try something that they might not normally try to further enrich their education. Using the CCS drone, Headmaster David Smith captured these moments of enrichment. Cornerstone Community School offers instruction for children in prekindergarten through sixth-grade via a curriculum woven with God’s word. Founded in 1994 by parents who shared a common vision for education with a Biblical worldview, CCS is accredited by Christian Schools International and is fully recognized by the state of Ohio.
