Tallmadge City School District hires new teachers

Tallmadge -- Students will be greeted by many new faces when they return to the classrooms in August.

"We're really excited to welcome so many new staff members," says Courtney A. Davis, the principal of Dunbar Primary and Munroe Elementary schools. Joanna DiFalco will be teaching first grade at Dunbar. She is replacing Kristen Barbera, who resigned to pursue other opportunities. Her sister, Nina DiFalco, will be teaching fourth grade at Munroe. She is replacing Debbie Harshbarger, who retired.

"This is the first time I am aware, that we have hired sisters in the same year," says Davis. The DiFalcos are graduates of Tallmadge High School.

Alyssa Huth will be teaching third grade at Munroe. She is taking the place of Carey Rich, who will now be teaching kindergarten at Dunbar.

Dillon Sedar will be teaching art at Munroe. He is replacing Kathy MacFarland, who retired.

Stacie Swan will be teaching fifth grade at Munroe. She is replacing Carol House, who retired.

Malinda Webb will be teaching fourth grade at Munroe. She is replacing Cerafina Gotto, who will now be teaching first grade at Dunbar.

Alison Dim will be teaching math at Tallmadge Middle School. She is replacing Cindy Strand, who retired.

Kim Carlson will be teaching home economics at Tallmadge High School. She is replacing Kelly Smith, who retired.

"This is the largest hire group we've done," in the 12 or 13 years he's been superintendent Jeff Ferguson said. " For us, as a district, it's going to be like a shot in the arm It's going to be very exciting to see a group this size come in and take the reins of 21st century facilities and fill them with new energy."
