Invalid, disputed petitions listed On Jan. 8, the Summit County Board of Elections disqualified 19 Republican petitions and 18 Democratic petitions for various offices up for election in the March 4 primary. Republican Party members whose petitions were disqualified include 18 candidates for the county party's central committee, as well as Akron resident Adrian Sims Jr., who filed for nomination to the Ohio House of Representatives 44th District seat. Disqualified Republicans who had sought central committee election included: Christopher Scott Drugan, Juanita Kaye Labelle, Courtney B. Metcalf, Adam Davis, Terri Lynn Barauskas, John P. Chames, Steven Wilkins, Dennis Mobley, Connie Zeller and Samuel McKeown of Akron, Randolph Toney of Cuyahoga Falls, Jaclyn Darrah of Uniontown, Elizabeth Redmond and Jane Dailey of Hudson, Michelle F. Vavrek of Northfield, James S. Gray and Scott E. Buck of Stow and Blanch I. Cook of Peninsula. Democratic Party members whose petitions were disqualified include 15 individuals who filed petitions for election to the county Democratic Party's central committee: Joe Finley, James F. Turner, Chad A. Knowlton, Mattie P. Marsh, Janice O'Davis, Vivian Q. Walters, Edward Spencer Muse, Patricia Anne Confere and John Brian Nicholas of Akron, Michael R. Soyars, Leon T. Ricks and Charles Marquette of Barberton, Robert B. Maher of Hudson, Diana L. Morneweck of Tallmadge and Mary Ann Day of Northfield. Other Democrats whose petitions were deemed invalid were those filed by County Council member Pete Crossland, who filed a petition for the state Republican Party central committee, Akron resident Brian Bardwell, who filed for the Ohio 45th District House seat and Summit County Councilman Daniel Congrove, who filed for re-election to County Council's 6th District seat.
