Cash, gift cards removed from unlocked vehicle in garage

Tallmadge --On Jan. 18, a Helena Drive woman told police sometime between 5 p.m. Jan. 17 and 7 a.m. Jan. 18, someone opened her garage door and removed $130 cash, and $250 worth of gift cards to assorted stores and restaurants from inside her unlocked vehicle. According to the report, there was no sign of forced entry.

Breaking and entering

Jan. 18. Safe, cash stolen from business: The owner of a Geneva Avenue business told police sometime between 9 p.m. Jan. 17 and 9:15 p.m. Jan. 18, someone entered the building by breaking a window and removed a $100 safe which contained $100 in cash. Damage to the window was estimated at $500. Police are following a lead.

Theft

Jan. 15. Theft of steak attempted at store: Police charged an Akron boy with theft after an employee of a South Avenue business told police the boy attempted to remove a $15 steak from the store without paying for it. According to the report, the boy was released into his mother's custody.

Drug abuse instruments

Jan. 18. Drugs, paraphernalia reportedly discovered in vehicle: Police arrested a Cuyahoga Falls man and charged him with possession of drug abuse instruments after officers stopped his vehicle on Northeast Avenue after receiving a report of a possible drunk driver. According to the report, the responding officer said he saw the suspect's vehicle go left of center three times. A traffic stop was conducted and officers discovered five tablets used in the treatment of opioid dependence, three and a half tablets used in the treatment of bipolar disorder, a burnt spoon with residue, a syringe and two medicine bottles containing an unknown liquid. He was processed at the Tallmadge police Department and released on bond.

Possession
of marijuana

Jan. 17. Man charged with marijuana possession: Police arrested an Akron man and charged him with possession of marijuana after officers conducted a vehicle stop on South Avenue for a traffic violation and reported discovering 10 grams of marijuana in his left front pants pocket. According to the report, he was also issued a traffic citation for improper left turn and loud exhaust/muffler.
