Police News: Guns removed from East Howe Road residence

Tallmadge -- An East Howe Road man told police someone entered his home Jan. 25 and removed .357 magnum revolver worth $350, a 9 mm semiautomatic handgun worth $450, and a .38 caliber antique stock muzzle loading rifle plus ammunition valued at $2,500.

No signs of a break-in were reported.

Police are investigating.

Burglary

Jan. 24. Youth charged in alleged theft: Police arrested a Tallmadge youth and charged him with burglary after a Whittlesey Drive woman discovered him leaving her garage when she arrived home at 2:32 a.m. According to the report, the juvenile removed a large quantity of change from her residence.

Jan. 22. Slider shattered at residence: A Narraganset Drive woman told police someone broke the rear sliding glass door of her home. According to police, it appeared nothing had been removed from the residence. Damage was estimated at $250.

Breaking and entering

Jan. 25. Lock cut from gate: An employee of a Geneva Avenue business told police someone cut the lock off the company gate and entered the back lot. According to the report, nothing appeared to be stolen. Damage was estimated at $15.

Theft

Jan. 27. Cash removed from executive's briefcase: The president of a home development company told police while showing a property on Waterford Court, three individuals came in to the unit and removed $3,250 from his briefcase while he was busy with other customers. Police are investigating.

Jan. 25. Store theft results in extradition: Police arrested a Kent man and charged him with theft after a loss prevention officer at a South Avenue business told police he saw him put $35 worth of merchandise in his pocket and leave the store without paying for the items. While being booked at the Tallmadge Police station, it was discovered there was a warrant issued by the state of Tennessee for the man's arrest. He was transported to the Summit County Jail awaiting extradition.

Jan. 24. Plasma TV, furniture taken: A North Thomas Road man told police someone removed a plasma TV, bedroom set with sheets, coffee tables, an iPod and game system totaling $7,500 from his apartment. According to the report, the man had just split up with his girlfriend. Police are investigating.

Criminal damage

Jan. 20. Mailbox damaged by car: A Vandalia Drive man told police sometime between 6 and 10 p.m., someone drove into his yard, striking his mailbox. Damage was estimated at $200.
