Queen of Heaven Church

Friday Lenten dinners

During Lent, dinners will be served Fridays through March 14 in the Queen of Heaven Parish Life Center. Carryout or dining-room service will be available from 5 to 8 p.m. Cost of dinners including coffee/tea and sides: Fried or baked fish -- $8, fried shrimp -- $9, fish/shrimp combo -- $9, pierogies or macaroni and cheese -- $6. Other beverages, desserts and preschool-children's portions will be available.

Lenten Mass schedule

The weekday Mass schedule during Lent, will be: 8:30 a.m. Monday through Saturday and additionally at 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Stations of the Cross

Stations of the Cross devotions will be scheduled during Lent Fridays at 7:15 p.m., following the 6:30 p.m. Mass. On Good Friday, Stations are scheduled for 7 p.m.

Queen of Heaven Church is located at 1800 Steese Road in Green.

Tallmadge Methodist Church Men to host Sweetheart Brunch

United Methodist Men of Tallmadge United Methodist Church, 207 N. Munroe Road, will host their annual Sweetheart Brunch Feb. 10. The event will follow a combined worship service at 9:30 a.m.

All women of the church will be honored and receive a flower.

Entertainment will be provided by the Jubilee Puppets from the First Church of God in Tallmadge. The More Men's Tab 'N Apple Choir also will sing.

Events at the church this week include:

* Feb. 10 -- Sonshine Singers and Sunbeams children's choirs, 10:20 a.m.; Kids Club, junior high youth, and pastor's Heaven study, 4 p.m.; The Rock worship experience for youth, 5:30; senior high youth, 6.

* Feb. 11 -- Quilters, 6 p.m.; trustees, 6:30.

* Feb. 12 -- Bible study on Jeremiah 31-35, 7 p.m.

* Feb. 13 -- Lenten study on Jesus, 10 a.m.; Chancel Choir, 7 p.m.

* Feb. 14 -- Men's devotions and work group, 8 p.m.; Dorcas Circle, 9; Finance Committee, 6:30 p.m.; On-Line Ringers, 7:15; Administrative Council, 7:30.

* Feb. 17 -- Sonshine Singers and Sonbeams children's choirs, 10:20 a.m.; Kids Club with Pinewood Derby and family dinner, 4 p.m.; senior high youth and Stephen Ministers, 6.

First United Methodist Church

'Music of the Heart'

First United Methodist Church, 245 Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls, is exploring "The Music of the Heart" this Lenten season and will present the first of its Lenten services Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. The service will feature Paul Sunderland and the praise and worship team of Northampton United Methodist Church leading a contemporary praise service in Wesley Hall. Fellowship will follow. Child care will be available. An offering will be taken for the mission projects the church supports. On Feb. 20, there will be a hymn sing of Charles Wesley hymns; on Feb. 27, the Stairwell Singers will perform; on March 5, the 40-member Chancel Choir will perform African American spirituals; and on March 12; anthems based on the prayer, "Kyrie eleison," will be presented.

'Life of Abraham
Lincoln'

Community members are invited to hear "The Life of Abraham Lincoln" Feb. 14 at 1 p.m. at the church. The program is part of the Going Strong meeting and is presented by Lincoln impersonator Pete Raymond of Wooster.

The program focuses on the former president's life as he grew to adulthood, his leadership during the Civil War, his love of country and his untimely death. Raymond is a life member of the Association of Lincoln Presenters which includes 170 portrayers of Lincoln from 35 states making presentations in first person, dressed in Lincoln-era attire. Dance

A Daddy-Daughter Dance will take place at the church Feb. 17 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Wesley Hall. Music, dancing, snacks and beverages will be featured. Tickets are available at the church office during the week.

Angel Food Ministries

Angel Food Ministries, First Church of God, 464 Northeast Ave., announces ordering dates for February.

At the church: Feb. 16, 10 a.m. to noon.

Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. See Elizabeth in the Quilt Room.

Wednesdays from 6 to 7 p.m.

Sundays before and after services: 9 to 9:30 a.m.; 10:30 to 11 a.m.; and 12:15 to 12:30 p.m.

The cost of a Basic Unit is $30. Monthly special prices have also increased a few dollars.
