GEORGE RICHARD MAYFIELD

U.S. Air Force veteran

George Richard "Dick" Mayfield Sr., 73, of Tallmadge died Feb. 24, 2008.

Mr. Mayfield was a U.S. Air Force Veteran, retired from the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. He volunteered at MAPS Air Museum in Canton, was a former member of Loyalty Lodge 645 F&AM and a member of Coventry-Akron Lodge 83 F&AM.

Mr. Mayfield was preceded in death by parents, Harry and Grace (Smoot) Mayfield; wife of 42 years, Loretta in 1998; and companion Bev Karnuth and her grandson K.C. Hartz in 2004. He is survived by children, George Richard "Rick" (Julia) Mayfield Jr. of Columbus, Robert Donald II of Tallmadge, Marian Christine (Michael) Frye of Florida and Randy Kevin (Ann) Mayfield of Hilliard; grandchildren, Christopher, Theresa, Patrick, Steven, Nicholas, Kylie, Bradley, Mackenna and Aidan; brother, Robert (Linda) Mayfield I of Tallmadge; sister, Jolynn (Chuck) Phillips of Jackson Township; uncle, John Smoot of Walbridge and many relatives and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Donovan Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
